Heroes

Though Rhiannon had many people she looked up to in life, Christopher Reeve was one of her true heroes. I can imagine it started out as just a regular crush on a celebrity. What female didn't adore those dashing good looks and the genuine warmth he created through his characters? Not only did Rhiannon find him to be a brillant actor, but she loved the fact that he had become an advocate for people with disabilities. She found inspiration through his message to others and enjoyed reading about his life. She never got to meet him personally, but if she had, no doubt she would have told him how much she admired and respected him for never giving up his fight for life.

One of Rhiannon's favorite movies with Christopher Reeve was Somewhere in Time. We often would watch it together and laugh about some of the silliness in it (i.e. going back in time by thinking really hard). She still watched films with Christopher Reeve after his accident and thought it was wonderful he still continued to act despite his disability. After his death, I remember thinking Rhiannon must be chatting with him now--sipping tea and chatting about how much of an impact he made on her life.
