"My best memories of Rhiannon were at Affton High School when she would comeinto my room in the "pit" and she would chit chat. Sometimes I combed her hair, sometimes she would ask about French, sometimes we laughed. I loved those quiet morning visits."

~Madame Gibson, high school french teacher

"I remember Rhiannon well. Who wouldn't? She always had a smile on her face. She had difficulty academically but never gave up. She worked very hard and always tried her best. She never let her physical disability get in her way. She did everything the other children did. I remember the class earning a special treat for filling their marble jar. We played relay games with Mrs. Albietz' class. Rhiannon had more fun than anyone else. She gave it her all. She would run, hop or whatever-her arms waving in the air with the biggest grin on her face!

The children accepted her well. They never were upset that she was on their team knowing that they may not win. Her joy overshadowed any thoughts of losing the relay. They welcomed her in their learning groups and invited her in their play groups. She had a true joy in living!

I asked Mrs. Albietz what she remembered most and that was her beaming smile. She just lit up!

The last time I saw Rhiannon was at a Special School District function where she received a special award. She was in high school, probably a senior. She had turned into a lovely young lady. She still had that wonderful smile. I stopped her as she returned from the stage and congratulated her. She just beamed. I will always remember that smile and her friendly way. She was a real trooper accomplishing all that she did."

~Mrs. Brueggemann, Rhiannon's second grade teacher

"I told you that smile was going to get you places."

~Earlene Mueller, our kid-sitter often said this about Rhiannon when we were growing up.
